We are pleased to announce that our client, Evan Minto, has signed a new Senior Academy contract with Dragons RFC. This is an exciting milestone in Evan’s career, marking the next step in his development within a club that has supported him from the early stages.
At just 19, Evan has already made a strong impression. A Wales Under-20 international, he started all five games in the recent U20 Six Nations and made his senior debut for the Dragons this season, including a key appearance in the EPCR Challenge Cup win at Newcastle Falcons.
Having started his rugby journey with Pontypool United and worked his way through the Dragons’ age-grade system, Evan’s versatility across the back row is a significant asset. His recent performances for Hartpury Rugby, where he scored an important try to help secure their place in the BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship Finals, underline his ability to perform under pressure.
Evan said of his decision to stay with Dragons RFC:
“I’ve been watching the Dragons play for years and to have the chance to pull that jersey on was a huge moment for me. The amount I’m learning from the players and coaches here is huge, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
Dragons Academy Manager Lewis Roberts praised Evan’s progress, noting the maturity and work ethic that have earned him his place in the senior setup. Head Coach Filo Tiatia also welcomed the news, emphasizing the value of homegrown talent progressing through the club’s pathway.
Wales U20 head coach Richard Whiffin highlighted Evan’s all-around ability, describing him as a smart, technically strong player who adds real value across multiple back-row positions. His adaptability and leadership qualities bode well for his continued growth.
As Evan embarks on this new chapter, we look forward to supporting him as he aims to build on his achievements and push for a regular role in the Dragons senior team.
