Owen Lane flies to Japan to join the Wales RWC squad as Navidi ruled out with injury
Cardiff Blues wing Lane has been called up to join the Wales squad in Tokyo as team-mate Josh Navidi’s RWC dreams end prematurely due to a grade two tear in his hamstring, picked-up in the Quarter-Final game against France on Sunday.
Wales are set to battle against the Springboks this weekend in their first Rugby World Cup Semi-Final since 2011, with head coach Warren Gatland set to announce his team on Friday.

against Ireland on Aug 31st 2019
Despite coming through the age grade system as an outside centre, Lane, aged 21, has played solely as a winger for Cardiff Blues since breaking into the first team and won his only Wales cap to date on the wing against Ireland back in August, scoring a try in the process.
Injury meant Lane was unavailable for selection for the 2019 6 Nations, but he was called into the Wales Squad for the first time in May 2019, as one of two uncapped players (Owen Lane, Rhys Carre) in the 42-man training squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
