Ethan Lewis signs long term contract to his Home Region

Ethan Lewis from Treherbert, Rhondda, is the latest player to sign a long-term contract with Cardiff Blues.

Lewis made his Cardiff Blues debut against Leicester Tigers in 2015, after progressing through the region’s academy.

The hooker has enjoyed an impressive season at the Arms Park, making 14 appearances, totalling 43 with the Club

“Like a lot of the boys here, this is my home region and a team I am passionate about.
“I have come right through the system here and there are so many of us who have progressed together, which is really promising. To train and play alongside so many friends is also a privilege.

“The competition at hooker is fierce but that is something we all enjoy and I am looking forward to improving as a player and ultimately a squad”, said Lewis.

The former Wales age-grade international will continue to compete with the likes of Kristian Dacey, Myhill and Liam Belcher for a first team spot and head coach John Mulvihill has been pleased with his progress.

Mulvihill said; “Ethan brings a physical presence and an abundance of energy both in attack and defence. He is a very strong carrier of the ball, who brings real dynamism to our running game, while he is also a solid hitter in defence and has brought big improvements to our set-piece.

“Ethan will continue to improve with the competition at hooker and those boys will only drive each other on for the betterment of the entire squad.”
